This might sound strange but it is very good. We like it plain or during the summer putting fresh fruit like, peaches, blueberries and strawberries on top. Hope you enjoy.
BUTTERMILK PIE
1/2 CUP (1 SLICK) MELTED BUTTER
1 3/4 CUP SUGAR (you can cut back on the sugar to 1 1/4 cup)
3 TABLESPOONS ALL PURPOSE FLOUR
3 EGGS BEATEN
1 CUP BUTTERMILK
1 TEASPOON VANILLA EXTRACT (I use 2 teaspoons)
1/4-1/2 TEASPOON GROUND NUTMEG (I USE 1/4)
1/4 TEASPOON SALT
1 UNBAKED 9 INCH DEEP-DISH PIE CRUST
PREHEAT OVEN TO 350F
COMBINE BUTTER, SUGAR, FLOUR, EGGS, BUTTERMILK
VANILLA, NUTMEG AND SALT IN A LARGE BOWL; WHISK
UNTIL SMOOTH.
POUR INTO PIE CRUST. BAKE 45-50 MINUTES UNTIL
GOLDEN BROWN AND WOODEN TOOTHPICK INSERTED
IN THE CENTER COMES OUT CLEAN.
COOL COMPLETELY ON WIRE RACK THEN REFRIGERATE.
